Phoaly 1.0 brings local-first browsing, culling, and organizing to macOS.
Core Features
- Folder-first library: Phoaly mirrors your Finder tree instead of importing photos into a separate library.
- Four view modes: Grid, list, gallery, and map, with independent sorting and grouping by capture time, folder, date, place, or camera.
- Cull mode: Keep, maybe, and reject with one key each; deletes go to the system Trash and can be undone.
- Organize workbench: Plan, preview, confirm, and undo moves and renames; copies are verified with sha256 before the source is trashed.
- Large libraries: Virtual lists, cursor pagination, and background thumbnails keep a 100,000-item library responsive.
Privacy
- No import, no upload, and no account.
- Originals stay on your Mac; scanning and preview are read-only.
- After activation the app works fully offline. Map tiles are the only optional network request.
Technical Notes
- macOS 13 or later, Apple silicon.
- Search uses FTS5 trigram for Chinese substrings and English fragments.
